Corporate Responsibility

Forests provide a bounty of economic, environmental, and social benefits. We are committed to being leaders in responsibly maximizing fibre value and embedding sustainable practices across all our operations, ensuring these benefits are available to our customers, employees and communities today and in the future.

We are committed to providing a safe workplace, and to developing and maintaining respectful relationships with all our stakeholders, including our employees, customers, communities, and First Nations of the traditional territories on which we operate.

To be a leader in our field, our safety goal includes eliminating all injuries, occupational illnesses, unsafe practices and incidents of environmental harm from our activities. We believe that our work is never so urgent that we cannot take the time to do it safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.

Our core values – People, Pride, Integrity, Responsibility, Innovation, and Teamwork – inspire our actions and confirm that safety is the key to how we operate. These values guide the behaviour of employees and contractors working within our operations.

100% of the woodlands we manage are audited and certified by independent third parties. 98% of the area we manage in Ontario is public land. The use of public land in Ontario is governed by long-term forest management arrangements that include a public input process and regular, periodic government auditing.

We made a commitment to maintain 100% certification for our managed timberlands in order to continue meeting market demand for a diversity of credible certification options. We have been, and remain, a supporter of FSC certification standards, both in terms of responsible forest management certification and chain of custody certification.

We are committed to responsible stewardship of the forests in which we operate. We recognize that environmental excellence, particularly sustainable forest management, is crucial to long-term success. Sustainable forest management means ensuring that the forests of today will be available for everyone to enjoy and benefit from in the future. It also means that customers can be confident our products come from sustainably managed and certified forests.
